SUMMARY:Vipassana meditation Cittanupassana weekend 5 - 6 July – Adi Ichsan - day 1
DESCRIPTION:Special Vipassana meditation Cittanupassana weekend in Samana\, Droogbak 11\, Amsterdam. \nAdi Ichsan will be giving a Cittanupassana (establishing observation on active consciousness) weekend retreat with a preparatory stage of recognizing infinite space (akasanancayatana) and recognizing the mind element (mano). \nIn Theravada dhamma the mind (nama) is composed by space element and the mind element\, just as the body (rupa) is composed by the 4 tactile elements (earth\, air\, water and fire). Therefore\, possessing the ability to recognize and experience the space element and mind element will make it easier for a yogi to distance; objectivate; and detach identification with thoughts\, ideas\, perceptions\, mind states and mind objects that appear in the yogi’s realm of consciousness. In turn this detachment with the own mind will enable the yogi to realize quicker the three characteristics of the active consciousness\, and if supported by wholesome merit may give a chance to see and experience the end (vaya) of conscious awareness (viññana). \nThe weekend is advised as suitable for yogis with longer cittanupassana training or experienced Mahasi style vipassana yogis. It is not recommended for beginners nor curiosity seekers. \nThose who have practiced cittanupassana but have difficulty in making distancing from the content of their own thoughts and ideas\, are advised to join this practice. \nRegistration is required. \nDaily schedule\n\n9:45 – 10:00 Arrival and welcome\n10:00 – 12:30 meditation session 1 (walking and sitting)\n12:30 – 13:30 lunch – a vegetarian / vegan lunch is provided\n13:30 – 15:30 meditation session 2 (walking and sitting)\n15:30 – 16:00 pause for refreshments\n16:00 – 17:00 meditation session 3 (sitting)\n17:00 – 18:00 Q&A and Dhamma talk\n\nParticipation\n\nThere is space for maximum 12 participants.\nYou can also participate one day.\nIn case the weekend is fully booked\, you can ask to be placed on a waiting list.\nIf you are unable to attend\, please inform us as soon as possible. SUMMARY:Intensive 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat 21-31 August 2025
DESCRIPTION:From 21 to 31 August 2025 an intensive 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat will be organised under the guidance of Aad Verboom. \nFor whom: the retreat is open to both beginners and advanced meditators. \n\nFor beginners\, you must have completed at least a Vipassana introductory course in the tradition of Mahasi Sayadaw or have comparable experience\, as assessed by the instructor.\nFor people who are not yet familiar with Dhammadipa and/or Aad Verboom\, a short intake interview will take place\, physically or via Zoom.\n\nGuidance: Aad Verboom is connected to Dhammadipa as a teacher\, for more details see www.verboomtraining.nl (Dutch text only). \nTradition and practice: Aad Verboom practises Vipassana meditation in the tradition of Mahasi Sayadaw and from the ‘direct method’. In the direct method there is emphasis on the development of mindfulness (sati) and the corresponding ‘momentary concentration’. There is no or less need for deeper concentration. If meditators develop or wish to develop more concentration during their practice\, this is okay\, in consultation with the teacher. \nWithin the tradition of Mahasi Sayadaw intensive practice is mostly done by alternately doing the sitting- and walking exercises. In this retreat we practise 24 hours per day (sleeping included). You practise mindfulness in the sitting\, walking\, standing and lying postures and during all other activities such as eating\, brushing your teeth etc. This makes the practice uninterrupted\, relaxed and natural. \nFacilities: \n\nYou have your own room but we also practise together in the meditation hall\, during the day and evening\, alternately sitting and walking. Every evening there is a Dhamma talk and every day there is a short talk (interview) with the teacher.\nThe venue is very suitable for the intensive practice of meditation. As in July 2022 and February 2024 we stay at the Sisters of Denekamp – Zusters van Denekamp | Home.\nThe food is vegetarian\, with a warm lunch and in the evening a light meal. Dietary wishes can be fulfilled within the limits of reason.\n\nRegistration:   \n\nIf you are interested. send an email to info@dhammadipa.nl and a registration form will be sent. Read carefully\, fill in\, sign and mail it. \nRegistration is based on order of entry of the registration form. \n\nIf you have any questions\, please send an email to aad.verboom@gmail.com. We can email\, phone or make a physical or Zoom appointment. \nGeneral information: \n\nDate: 21 to 31 August 2025\nVenue: Zusters van Denekamp te Denekamp\, Zusters van Denekamp | Home.\nGuidance: Aad Verboom\nCosts: depending on the number of participants between E 980 and E 955.\nNumber of participants: max 14.\nDana: at the end of the retreat there is occasion to give dana for the guidance and/or to Foundation Dhammadipa.

SUMMARY:Vipassana meditation weekend 21 - 22 February with Adi Ichsan and Henk van Voorst - day 1 with Adi
DESCRIPTION:For those with some experience practicing Vipassana meditation. Registration required; guidance provided on day 1 by Adi Ichsan\, on day 2 by Henk van Voorst\, in Samana. \nPractical deepening of traditional Vipassana\, emphasizing the distinction between body (Rupa) and mind (Nama). The focus is on the process of spiritual growth (Yogavacara) through the work of diligence\, mindfulness\, and clear understanding (Atapi\, Sati\, Sampajano). \nParticipants are expected to understand how “involvement” with doing\, feeling\, thinking and being affects the maintenance of suffering (Dukkha) and spiritual defilements (Kilesa Tanha). \nFurthermore\, attention will be paid to the supporting functions of discipline (Sikhati) and wise contemplation (Yoniso Manasikara). The method employed will confront the yogi with discomfort\, impermanence\, and meaninglessness\, in every physical or mental posture. The exercises will be expanded to include standing\, walking\, lying\, and prostration meditation. \n\nHours: Days are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM\, including a vegetarian/vegan lunch. Please arrive a little earlier; you’re welcome from 9:40 AM.\nLocation: Samana\, Droogbak 11 in Amsterdam. Accessible by public transport\, a 7-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station.\n\nParticipation\n\nThere is space for maximum 12 participants.\nRegister by sending an email to info@dhammadipa.nl.\nYou may also join for one day.\nIn case the weekend is fully booked\, you can ask to be placed on a waiting list.\nIf you are unable to attend\, please inform us as soon as possible. SUMMARY:Vipassana meditation weekend 21 - 22 February with Adi Ichsan and Henk van Voorst - day 2 with Henk
We can then invite the next person on the waiting list.\n\nPlease note the advice to prevent respiratory infections \nFrom our point of view on buddhist ethics respiratory infections are a risk for teachers and participants as well as for those present to contaminate others.
