DESCRIPTION:Vipassana meditation city retreat Saturday April 4 – Monday April 6\, in Samana\, Droogbak 11\, Amsterdam \nFor meditators who have some prior experience of Vipassana meditation. Registration is required\, via e-mail to info@dhammadipa.nl. \nThe sessions will be guided on day 1 by Aad Verboom\, day 2 by Adi Ichsan\, day 3 by Marc Heijmerink.  \nPractical deepening of traditional Vipassana\, emphasizing the distinction between body (Rupa) and mind (Nama). The focus is on the process of spiritual growth (Yogavacara) through the work of diligence\, mindfulness\, and clear understanding (Atapi\, Sati\, Sampajano). \nParticipants are expected to understand how “involvement” with doing\, feeling\, thinking and being affects the maintenance of suffering (Dukkha) and spiritual defilements (Kilesa Tanha). \nFurthermore\, attention will be paid to the supporting functions of discipline (Sikhati) and wise contemplation (Yoniso Manasikara). The method employed will confront the yogi with discomfort\, impermanence\, and meaninglessness\, in every physical or mental posture. The exercises will be expanded to include standing\, walking\, lying\, and prostration meditation. \n\nTimes:  daily from 10 – 18 hours. Please join us us shortly before 10:00\, you’re welcome from 9:40 onwards.\nLunch: In March\, we decided to scale back the organization. Therefore\, please bring your own lunch. Water and tea will be provided 😊.\nVenue: Samana\, Droogbak 11\, Amsterdam.  Accessible with public transport\, a 6 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Station.\n\nParticipation\n\nRegistration is required\, via e-mail to info@dhammadipa.nl.\nThere is space for maximum 12 participants.\nYou may join for one\, two or three days.\nIn case the city retreat is fully booked\, you can ask to be placed on a waiting list.\nIf you are unable to attend\, please inform us as soon as possible. We can then invite the next person on the waiting list.\n\nPlease note the advice to prevent respiratory infections \nFrom our point of view on buddhist ethics respiratory infections are a risk for teachers and participants as well as for those present to contaminate others. This helps protect everyone\, including people with health concerns. \nAdvice \nCoughing\, sneezing\, a sore throat and a stuffy or runny nose are signs of respiratory infection. \n\nStay at home if you are ill.\nIf your symptoms are mild\, stay at home or do a selftest of good quality\, with negative result and max 24 hours before the meditation activity. In case of doubt a new selftest is mandatory\, which will be provided by Dhammadipa.\nIf you have symptoms\, avoid physical contact with people who could become seriously ill from a cold or flu virus. Wear a face mask if physical contact is necessary\, for example\, when providing care.\n\nFor questions and comments please mail info@dhammadipa.nl. \nDana\n\nThe city retreat is being offered on the basis of dana (a voluntary contribution); with a suggested amount of € 32 per day.\n\nIf you participate for 3 days\, the guideline for dana is E 96\nIf you participate for 2 days\, the guideline for dana is E 64\n\n\nAt the end of every meditation day and the city retreat\, there will also be the opportunity to donate extra for the meditation guidance and teachings.\nThe dana can be offered via a bank transfer to the Dhammadipa\, Amsterdam account number NL85 INGB 0005019113\, mentioning ‘vipassana city retreat April 2026’.
